Tower of St. George's Church. Playwright and spy Christopher Marlowe was christened here on 26th February, 1564. Sadly the church was destroyed by German air raids in 1942. These raids, which specifically targeted historical sites, were known as "Baedeker raids" because their targets were selected from a German tourist guide of that name.

This bronze figure of Christ dates from 1991. The original was destroyed in 1642 by Parlementarians, who used it for target practise.

Christ Church Cathedral, Canterbury. Its history dates to 597, when Pope Gregory sent St. Augustine here. Parts of the present building date to 1070, but most of it was built between 1377-1405. It was extensively renovated in the 1660s.

The compass, inlaid in the floor at the Crossing, is the symbol of the Anglican Communion, which has churches around the world including the Episcopal Church of the USA. It was installed in 1988.
